About Me 🇪🇬🇮🇹🇺🇸
I'm Noah Jean-Pierre Hathout--A tech enthusiast, avid gamer, and computer engineering student at Boston University, specializing in machine learning. With a strong academic record and a spot on the Dean's List, I am passionate about AI and robotics and want to continue to explore how machines can learn and interact with the world.
Having lived and studied in five countries across three continents,
[🇺🇸 -> 🇩🇪 -> 🇹🇷 -> 🇳🇱 -> 🇹🇷 -> 🇨🇳 -> 🇩🇪 -> 🇺🇸📍]
I've gained a unique global perspective and love for cross-cultural collaboration. This diverse background continuously fuels my drive to work on projects that positively impact our world and society.
When I'm not coding, debugging, or experimenting with new tech, you'll find me at the nearest climbing gym 🧗🏽♂️ or tennis courts 🎾, leveling up in the latest video games 🕹️, or maybe teaching an agent to do better than me at the video game 🤖.
I am all about combining serious tech skills and hard work with a touch of fun and creativity. So if you are also into AI, robotics, gaming, or just want to nerd out over the newest tech, let's connect :)

Projects

SuperTuxSmart
The goal was to optimize performance on the MarioKart-esque driving simulator called pySuperTuxKart. Our approach and results are outlined in Report.pdf .

JoshingNoahmNotButHilarioIsNET
Extended Meta’s advanced Detectron2 model—originally designed for object detection—to incorporate facial recognition and real-time attention tracking. By integrating COCO instance segmentation with a retrained Detectron2 pipeline, our system efficiently analyzes attention patterns in live video streams. Our approach and results are outlined in Report.pdf .

Pollux
An autonomous countertop-cleaning robot with integrated reinforcement learning to prevent falling off cliffs and hitting obstacles.

PIRA - Personal Indoor Robot Assistant
Developed a personal indoor robot assistant that can autonomously navigate via Optitrack-based indoor positioning and real-time obstacle avoidance or be manually operated via WASD. A Node.js server coordinates data among multiple robots, while Streamlit provides a live 2D visualization and TingoDB logs positional data for monitoring and analysis.

FitCat: Network of Smart Cat Collars with Activity Monitoring
Developed a smart cat collar that captures and transmits real-time activity data (sleeping, wandering, or "moonwalk") using an accelerometer, networked server, and alphanumeric display. It also includes a button interface for switching modes, a buzzer for leadership status changes, and coordinates with a central server to participate in a leader determination system.

SmartPill: Ingestible Sensor
Developed a proof-of-concept ingestible sensor (SmartPill) using an ESP32 microcontroller to log and transmit key biometric data as it “travels” through the digestive tract. It continuously captures data, converts it into engineering units, and reports findings via a serial console, laying groundwork for future non-invasive diagnostic tools.

elect-A-leader
Developed a distributed, fail-safe e-voting system using IR-equipped fob devices to simulate NFC-like authentication for casting votes. A dynamically elected Coordinator aggregates votes, manages central server communication, and ensures continuous operation through failover.

Geo-Proximity Calculator
Built a Python tool to efficiently match geographic coordinates between datasets using the Haversine formula. Supports CSV or manual input, interprets complex coordinate formats (DMS/decimal), and calculates nearest neighbors for logistics or spatial analytics. Features robust error handling and adjustable logging.

GraphTrak – Weighted Graph & Multi-Shortest-Paths Analysis
Developed in C++, this undirected, weighted graph library reads edges from a file, constructs an adjacency list, and uses a priority queue–based approach to calculate distances plus the number of distinct shortest paths. Demonstrates proficiency in data structures, file I/O, and efficient graph algorithms.

Huffman Code Generator & File Decoder
Built in C++, this system uses priority queues to construct a Huffman tree from character frequencies, then generates sorted code tables and decodes compressed files. Showcases expertise in data compression, tree-based algorithms, and file handling.
